There wasn’t an existing script for this film when we were approached. It was an idea that was generated for a print campaign. The idea was interesting enough to convey the same through a series of commercials. There were 3 issues of the magazine with topics that were interesting and they highlighted the campaign’s message – Courage to go beyond. We wrote down the shots and the scenes we liked were visuals we don’t get to see on news footage. We stuck to the reality that existed around those events (26/11, Torture chambers) to ensure that this is a serious message.
The call was taken early on that live footage is not an option. Another collective call was to do something graphic. By this time we totally felt at home with this project. We came across motion graphic novel clips on youtube and other places online. This treatment was definitely challenging not just for us but to the client and guys at the agency too.
